NunnyBabbit Wiki:Style guide
Following these guidelines is recommended, especially if you plan to continue editing on the wiki after your first few edits.
Structure
Pages should be written in an article structure, like this. The lead section is an overview of the subject, with sections getting more in detail. Section names should be descriptive.
Templates
The wiki uses some general templates. For usage of a template, see its page.
- For colors, use Template:Color swatch.
- Pages can be marked as stubs by using Template:Stub.
Naming
Capitalization is only used as the subject in sentence case. I.e.: A page about the dragons urinating in Gear's ponds should be titled "Dragons urinating in Gear's ponds".
When deciding on using singular or plural form for a page's title, consider if: it is describing a species. Singular form is usually preferred.
Categories are expected to use plural form. Templates are typically singular form.
Formatting
Format dates using the #dateformat magic word. Using {{#dateformat:2025-3-19|mdy}}
will format as 2025-3-19, and changes on the user's preference.
Numbers are written in word form when ranging single digits from zero to nine. If numbers are written in a table, they should always be written as digits.
Media
Where applicable, images should have descriptive ALT text. ALT text not only helps to assist low vision conditions, but it also adds context for everyone.
The wiki accepts a smaller range of file extensions. This is deliberate, as the file formats are optimized for the web. Additionally, the file size limit is set at 10,485,760 bytes, with a recommended size below 524,288 bytes.
- .webp, .jxl: Images.
- .webm: Videos.
- .svg: Vector graphics.
