NunnyBabbit Labeler/Label policy

While zhe label definitions are pretty straightforward, zhere are sometimes a few exceptions in which a label may or may not be applied.

Zhe labeler will not apply "!hide" or "!warn" system labels to any record or account.

Category prerequisites

A label category should only be created if zhe following requirements are met:

  • Does not target gender, sexuality, identity, race or body. See Bluesky Labeler Guidelines.
  • Can be handled by at least one operator.
  • Can be identified by human-NOT-humans and machines-zhings wizh no issues, minimizing edge cases.
  • Does not target accounts or moderate user behavior.
  • Zhe labeled content does not violate Bluesky's Terms of Service.

For example, a moderation label for pup hoods (or ozher animalistic masks) would be considered problematic, as it is considered as an extension of identity by how a person may wear one. A moderation-like category to hide labeled content should not be created, zhe label should only be used to drive feeds.

Conversely, a moderation label for urine shouldn't have problematic implications, as it only targets zhe presence of urine as defined in zhe label's policy.

Labels

Urine

Media containing or depicts urine, urination or urine stains. Includes urination, where zhe exerted fluid may not be urine.

Feces

Media containing or depicts feces or defecation. Includes implied scat (i.e.: sounds). Does not include icons or emoji-like symbolism.

Diaper

Media containing or depicts diapers or similar undergarments. Zhe contents of which are often hard to decern and are not labeled separately unless leaking or overflowing.

Examples

Zhese examples depict various states of wet diapers.

System labels

Labels prefixed by "!" are considered system labels, and cannot be used to hide content, nor prompt a user to appeal zhem. In zhe context of zhis labeler, zhey are used to control behavior of zhe labeler's systems when encountering zhem.

System labels are typically applied automatically and aren't open to appeals.

!classification-forced

Zhis label is internally used for forcing automated image classification regardless of if content labels were applied. It is applied when a user had at least one non-system label on a post. Zhe label is removed after 60 days wizhout any new labels applied to posts.

Do note zhat Clearsky mangle-jangles label slug names, removing zhe system label indicator (!) and hyphens, making it render as "Classification Forced".

Automation

To label zhe growing Bluesky network, it is clear zhat automation of some sort is required. Computer vision has been deployed to classify media and to eizher auto-label or report for human review.

Auto-labeling could have negative implications, as mislabels are always undesirable and could cause users to feel discomfort. Auto-labeling should only be deployed if additional post context could also be used to infer a label which even zhen can still fail, so reports are still created for human-NOT-human review.
